Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old former Ivy League student, was arrested as a suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s murder case. Mangione was found having a gun without a license on Monday, 11 December, after which he was detained. A silencer and some fake ID cards were also received from Luigi Mangione.
When the Police questioned whether he had been in New York recently, Mangione became quiet and started to shake with fear. Officers also recovered some notes, which clarified the writer’s mindset. All the documents recovered from Luigi Mangione refer to the healthcare industry.
Mangione is from the Baltimore family, one of the richest families in the United States. He is the grandson of Nicholas Mangione, a renowned Baltimore real-estate developer, and Mary C Mangione, a philanthropist. According to Luigi Mangione’s LinkedIn profile and confirmation from the guardians, he completed his bachelor’s and master’s of science engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. His social media profiles show that Luigi Mangione has been working in TrueCar for the past four years. However, the company told the guardians that he had not been with them since 2023.

The 50-year-old Brian Thompson was shot in the chest on December 4 in New York. He was shot on West 54th Street outside the hotel New York Hilton Midtown. When all of this occurred, Mr Thompson was in town to attend his company’s annual investors conference. Thompson was also shot once in the back and once in the right calf.
