With an increasing number of positive cases and rapidly increasing death toll, coronavirus has affected the whole world. Besides the economic crisis, the pandemic has affected our entertainment too, as the global entertainment industries have seen the longest shutdown amid the pandemic. Some major film bodies around the world, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, Disney, Amazon, Netflix, Paramount Pictures, Sony and many other production houses have either suspended or postponed releasing dates.

With the latest James Bond premiere was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the series of movie cancellations in Bollywood and Hollywood have started, bringing a huge reshuffling of the release schedule of 2020 and 2021. From “John Wick Chapter-4” to “The Batman” many upcoming movies have been put on hold to contain the spread of coronavirus. All the major and minor production houses across the world have suspended or halted production and releases. It is said that Hollywood could lose $20B due to suspension and postponement of movies because of coronavirus. 

With the list of most awaited movies, including Salman Khan’s Radhe and Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar with extended cameos by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, has been postponed to an indefinite period. Many other blockbusters Hollywood movies that were to be released in the first quarter of 2020 have been either suspended or put off for an undetermined time period. The pandemic can lead the Bollywood industry to lose an estimated amount of 1300 crore as most movies were scheduled to be released on Eid, 2020. Top Hollywood Movies Postponed Due to COVID-19 (Updates Release Date)

1) No Time To Die: Starring ‘James Bond’ Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Rami Malek, Christoph Waltz, and Lashana Lynch in lead roles, will be suspended until November 2020. Micheal G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced the postponement as the movie was to be released on 8 April. 

2) Fast & Furious 9: One of the most awaited adventure movies, ‘Fast & Furious’ could be a blockbuster but delayed by the pandemic. Starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Jordana Brewster, directed by Justin Lin, the movie was scheduled to be released on 22 May with the rumors of John Cena and Vin Diesel together. However, it will now open on April 2, 2021. 

3) Mulan: Another fascinating creation from the home of Disney was scheduled to be on the screen by 27 March but postponed to 24 July. Starring Donnie Yen, Gong Li, Yoson An, Jason Scott Lee, and Rosalind Chao this movie was said to be a blockbuster from the house of Disney.

4) Black Widow: Dedicated to one of the most loved characters from the club Marvel, ‘Black Widow’ was scheduled to be released on May 1 but Disney suspended it’s release due to coronavirus and postponed it to 6 November.

5) Wonder Woman 1994: DC’s most notable comeback in 2017 with ‘Wonder Woman’ was highly praised. Hence the ‘Wonder Woman’ — portraying solo performance of Gal Gadot was scheduled to hit the screen on 5 June. The movie will now open on 14th August.

Top Bollywood Movies Postponed Due to COVID-19 (Updates Release Date)

1) Radhe: Starring superstar Salman Khan, Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda, and Jackie Shroff, it was estimated to collect 200 crore on this Eid (22 May) but postponed due to coronavirus and a new release date is to be announced yet.

2) Laxmmi Bomb: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar with Kiara Advani, Laxmmi Bomb was to be released against Salman Khan’s Eid. It was scheduled to be released on 22 May due to sudden suspension, a big clash in Bollywood gone away. The new release date has yet to be announced.

3) Sooryavanshi: Starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Ranveer Singh, and Niharica Raizada, it was to be the biggest blockbuster from Rohit Shetty, but the producers suspended it’s release on 24 March due to COVID-19. 

4) 83: Directed by Kabir Khan, it was a movie based on 1983 world cup, starring Deepika Padukon, Ranveer Singh, hardy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and Pankaj Tripathi, it was the most awaited movie that could cross 150 crore but postponed amid coronavirus outbreak. It was decided to be on the screen in August and a new release date has yet to be announced.

5) Gulabo Sitabo: Starring mega star Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmaan Khurana, and Nalneesh Neel, this drama comedy movie was scheduled to be released on 17 April but due to countrywide lockdown in India, the team decided to release on OTT in the first half of 2020. It will be released on Amazon Prime, but the release date has yet to be announced. 

These are some most awaited Hollywood and Bollywood movies to be on the screen, but suspended amid the pandemic. However, we have mentioned a few movies, but there are many movies like ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘A Quiet Place 2’, ‘Bloodshot’, ‘No Time to Die’ and ‘The Conjuring’ to be released in 2020.
