If staying under lockdown is tough for common people then think about professional athletes or people who were indulging in weekly events and frequent traveling. The shackles of quarantine are clenching their muscles and causing strain. Every day comes up with new sporting event cancelation news, which has caused a lot of disappointment and stress for professional athletes who breathe for play.

Apart from revenue loss, the pain of staying away from the playground means a lot for a player who keeps thinking about gameplay. The COVID-19 outbreak is shrinking containment areas in European countries where the people are hoping for the resumption of sporting events later in the summers.

The novel coronavirus outbreak has affected over 2.48 million people and claimed 162,948 lives across the world. From football to cricket, all major sporting events have been postponed and the most significant event cancellation is Tokyo Olympic 2020. The International Olympic Committee and Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe have postponed Tokyo Olympic 2020 to the next year, where it will be held from July 23, 2021, to August 8, 2021.

However, apart from this one event, hundreds of leagues and international tournaments have been canceled from indoor to outdoor, all types of sporting events have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Here’s the list of some major sporting events that will be resumed after coronavirus lockdown.

The world’s most popular sport Football has seen many cancelation charges amid the coronavirus outbreak. From champion league to UFE championship, over thousands of worldwide football events have been postponed.

One of the most popular The Major League Soccer (MLS) dropped under the threat of COVID-19 and the US Government has extended matches till July 8 due to coronavirus pandemic. The USA has perhaps the worst hit among all other countries as the New City is now the hotspot of the pandemic. All the major sporting events and other tournaments where thousands of people are supposed to gather have been postponed.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) also announced the postponement of double-legged semi-final matches of the African Champion League that was supposed to play in May. It will lead the CAF into a great loss as the league is one of the most earning football leagues in the world after FIFA.

All 195 countries are under the threat of Coronavirus therefore the World Football Association has announced the cancelation of all major tournaments and leagues till further notice.

Russia also suspended all sporting events including The Russian League that was at the peak also suspended until April 10. Russian Football Union announces immediate suspension of all events till further notice.

The African National Championship 2020 soccer tournament also changed the place in April due to COVID-19 and the league was expected to be a game-changer for teams like Barcelona amid the hustle-bustle of team management.

The Euro 2020 Tournament was also postponed to the next year. This 24-team league could bound over 12 nations together and that was a big concern to halt the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. England also suspended the Elite Football Leagues until further notice. UEFA confirmed the suspension of tournaments like the Champions League and Europa League along with counting the rate of revenue loss during these charges. FIFA and Asian Football Confederation nod to the agreement of the Asian World Cup Matches extension till June. Apart from these international Football Tournaments and Leagues, all the national teams have postponed all the national sporting events as well. It is probably the biggest loss to the sports community around the world.

From the London Marathon to the world-famous The Boston Marathon, all the major sporting events have been affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak and countries are worried about their citizens by canceling all the upcoming sporting events. Amsterdam, Paris, and Barcelona have also been suspended. Marathon in Japan was supposed to attract 3 million people that have been postponed along with the postponed action of the Tokyo Olympic 2020. It would cost a lot to the International Olympic Committee because National Olympic Bodies are concerned about the revenue loss and, of course, the mental health of the athletes.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix just became an interesting thing on the calendar, but it seems that we have to change the calendar because the officials have announced the cancelation of Formula One race. Now there won’t be any F1 race between June and July. The most upcoming race was about to be held in The Baku City that is now scheduled for June 7. F1 Opening in Australia was also suspended after the McLaren team found COVID-19 positive. Both the Bahrain Grand Prix and Vietnam Grand Prix have been extended due to the pandemic.

Apart from the Indian Premier League (IPLs) million-dollar revenue loss, there is a long list of sporting events that have been affected by COVID-19. Here’s a list of sports under the threat of the coronavirus.

  • Racing

The French MotoGP-initially postponed to May 15-20 and so The Indianapolis 500.

  • Tennis

The International Tennis Federation confirmed that over 900 worldwide tennis tournaments will be affected due to coronavirus.

There is a long list of the sports and tournaments have been affected by the pandemic as Boxing, Basketball, Rugby, MotoGP, Table Tennis, Golf, Cycling, Baseball, NCAA, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Badminton, Sumo, and all other physical or non-physical sports have been postponed in response to cut down the spread of COVID-19.
