iOS WhatsApp Users: Profile Photos Screenshots To Ban

WhatsApp To Ban Profile Photo Screenshot

In March, it was announced that WhatsApp, the instant messaging app, would stop Android users from taking profile photos and screenshots. The popular chatting platform, which has been focusing on users’ privacy, is now reportedly working on the same for iOS users as well.

As per the WA Beta Info report, the latest update from WhatsApp’s iOS beta program, version 24.10.10.70, available via TestFlights, shows that the security feature is being tested. WA Beta, the reliable tracker regarding WhatsApp updates, also reveals a screenshot showing how the feature will look when it launches. A notification might also pop up saying, “Taking screenshots of profile photos has been disabled to safeguard users privacy”.

However, this feature can not entirely prevent misuse. The restriction will play a crucial role in mitigating the risk of unauthorised distribution of profile photos.

Other Changes By WhatsApp

Recently, WhatsApp has also changed the theme colour from blue to green. Now, iOS users have a green interface instead of the usual blue. However, Android users always had a green interface.

“We’ve made some changes to how WhatsApp looks and feels, including spacing, colours, icons and more. These changes bring a modern, new experience to WhatsApp and make it more accessible and easier to use,” the company said as per a report in The Sun. The update isn’t optional, and all users will eventually be shifted to the greener interface, regardless of whether they like it.

WhatsApp is a popular messaging platform with more than 2 billion active users. Since meta has owned WhatsApp, it has kept on rolling out new features to improve user experience. From enhanced security to interface, everything is evolving according to the modern age.
