Indian Premier League 2022: The Full List Of Award Winners

An enthralling season of the Indian Premier League came to an end on Sunday night when a newbie, Gujrat Titans, lifted the trophy by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Here are the highlights of the IPL 2022. 

  • It was the 15th edition of this cash-rich professional Twenty20 cricket league. 
  • The two new teams Gujrat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, were added to the league in this edition. 
  • All the group stage matches were played within the Maharashtra state only. Maharashtra’s four cricket stadiums, including Wankhede Stadium,  DY Patil Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Stadium, have hosted these matches. 
  • Four teams that qualified for the playoffs were Gujrat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Banglore. 
  • The champions of IPL 2022, Gujrat Titans, received a check of Rs.20 Crore, while Rajasthan Royals, the runner-up, got a check of Rs. 12.50 crore.  
  • Josh Buttler (863 runs) won the Orange cap for scoring the most runs in the IPL 2022. 
  • Yajuvendra Chahal (27 wickets) won the Purple cap for getting the most wickets in the league. 
  • Dinesh Kartik was declared the ‘Super Striker’ and presented a ‘TATA Punch’ car for finishing the league with a strike rate of 183.33.
  • Josh Buttler (45 sixes) hammered the most sixes in the league and received the ‘Lets Crack It Sixes’ award. He also got the award for hitting the maximum fours (83 fours) this season. Moreover, Buttler was declared the Powerplayer of the Season as well.  
  • Rinku Singh’s catch taken by Evin Lewis’ was declared the best catch of the season as it ended the Kolkata Knightriders’ campaign. 
  • The award for the Fastest Delivery of the Season went to Lockie Ferguson for his delivery bowled at 157.3 Kmph in the IPL final. 
  • Umran Malik won the award for the Emerging Player of the Season. 
  • The champion (Gujrat Titans) and the runner up (Rajasthan Royals) of the TATA IPL 2022 shared the Fairplay Award. 

The IPL 2022 is special because a newly added team dominated throughout the season and eventually won the title with a bang. While the most title-winning teams including Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings couldn’t even make it to the playoffs.
