The US-China standoff seems to be over now as the pandemic has started to damage the U.S.A on a larger scale. The US officials confirmed 85,594 confirmed coronavirus positive cases on Thursday while a total 1,300 deaths caused COVID-19.
The cold war between USA and China started in the aftermath of the ‘Tiananmen Square‘ in 1989 stretches with Donald Trump’s statement over the Coronavirus outbreak saying it’s a ‘Chinese Virus’. In response to this, senior Chinese officials and mainland media have blamed the USA for implanting the virus in China during the ‘7th Military World Games’ held in Wuhan, China in October 2019.
Earlier on 17 March, the ministry of foreign affairs confirmed that ‘US Journalists and Media Houses will be restricted to work with their identity as Member of American Media in the mainland of China, Hong Kong and Macao.’
In response to this action, Mr. Trump on March 18 debar Chinese foreign media blaming that officials have portrayed a conspiracy theory that the US has brought this virus to Wuhan in 2019.
The hostility didn’t begin, of course, with the COVID-19. The president has engaged in a ‘tariff war against China’ as during his presidency, he has threatened the survival of Huawei most times.
Now when the pandemic is violating the USA, claiming a huge number of COVID-19 positive, both countries come ahead to cooperate to halt the spread of coronavirus and contain the damage. This handshake, that’s of course not good news for the world because if two world powers worked together to halt further life and economic damage from this global crisis, there is nothing they couldn’t do.
