Long-serving Bollywood Actor Rishi Kapoor Dies at 67, Confirms Amitabh Bachchan

April 30, 2020: One day after the death of extraordinaire Irrfan Khan and Bollywood continues to groan as a veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has passed away at 67 in Mumbai after a long combat. He has been diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and has been fighting for two years. The 90’s superstar was admitted to Sir Harkisandas Narottamdas Reliance Foundation Hospital, where he breathed last Today morning. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan confirmed his death on twitter “He’s Gone..! Rishi Kapoor Gone… Just Passed Away.. I Am Destroyed!” Big B tweeted today.

The veteran actor was undergoing abroad treatments for years and returned to India last September from the United states.

Last year in February, Kapoor was admitted to hospital twice due to his poor health condition. He was first hospitalized in Delhi, where he was attending a family function. Long-serving Bollywood actor said that he was suffering from a common “infection”.

Featuring hundreds of blockbuster movies, Kapoor was truly a gem in the throne of Bollywood. Starting his career with a child role, he first appeared with his father Raj Kapoor in film Mera Naam Joker (1970) and he received the National Film Award for his outstanding screenplay as a child actor. He was named Filmfare’s Best Actor Award in 1974 for his first lead role against Dimple Kapadia in his first movie as an adult ‘Bobby’ in 1973. 

He ended his career with his last movie ‘The Body’ (2019) with Emraan Hashmi and Vedhika Kumar. Widely known for his outstanding acting, Rishi Kappor is a popular Indian actor, director, producer popular in Hindi Cinema for his notable performance in Bollywood. With a long list of awards in his side, Kapoor was nominated for hundreds of National and International awards and received a few of them. 

Long-serving Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor won Apsara Award (2009) for ‘Love Aaj Kal’, International Indian Film Academy Award for the best negative role in ‘Aurangzeb’ (2013), IIFA for ‘Agneepath’ (2012), Bombay International Film Festival (2008), Filmfare Award for ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ (2010), Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award (2008), International Screen Award ‘D-Day’ (2013), Kapoor was a renowned actor and author, came in frame after the launch of ‘Khullam Khulla’ one of his best books.

Here’s the list of a few of his finest works (movies) popular for his notable and award winning performance. IIFA winner ‘Bobby’ (1973), ‘Chandni’ (1989), ‘Nagina’ (1986), ‘Prem Rog’ (1982), ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ (1977), ‘Mera Naam Joker’ (1970), ‘Karz’ (1980), ‘Bol Radha Bol’ (1992), ‘Naseeb Apna Apna’ (1986), ‘Coolie’ (1983), and many other popular 20’s movies, including D-day, Mulk, Love Ajj Kal, Kapoor & Son’s, Besharam, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Student of the Year, Sanam Re, he was known as on-screen brother of Amitabh Bachchan as he has shared over 25 screens with Big B. 

Kapoor also won Filmfare award for one of his notable performances in D-day, starring Irrfan Khan who also passed away on Tuesday. Irrfan Khan was also diagnosed with cancer.
