Extraordinary Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passed away at 54, after losing a fight against Colon Infection in Mumbai. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Tuesday, where he was under observation. The actor in 2018 issued a statement to his fans about his illness saying that he’s been diagnosed with a Neuroendocrine Tumor.
A Star actor of Hindi Cinema, Khan has been a renowned face in Bollywood and contributed to some popular Hollywood movies as well. Started his career from Salaam Bombay! In 1988, Khas was a popular Bollywood actor known for his ultimate acting skills. The award winning actor has named thousands of magnificent movies to his side including ‘Life in A Metro’, Oscar nominated ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘The Lunchbox’ and the list goes on.
Khan recently shared an acknowledgement with the statement:
“I trust, I have surrendered,” these were some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heartfelt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and his memorable actions on screen. It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, ‘As if I were tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it.”
Indian film director Shoojit Sircar shared the news of his death on Twitter “My dear friend Irrfaan khan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. We shall meet again.. Condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. You too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om Shanti. Irrfaan Khan salute.”
Irrfan’s Bollywood career revolves around several decades and industries, Renowned for his award-winning acting in Indian movies, Khan was also famous for his notable performances in Hollywood and International movies.
In Hollywood and Bollywood, his most popular award-winning films include his debut, the Academy Award nominated Salaam Bombay!, Maqbool (2004), Paan Singh Tomar (2011), The Lunchbox (2013), Haider (2014), Gunday (2014), Piku (2015) and Talvar (2015) and Hindi Medium (2017), Life of Pi (2012), The Warrior (2001), Inferno (2016), Jurassic World (2015) and many other remarkable performances he was honored with the Filmfare award in 2017 for his outstanding performance in Hindi Medium.
Irrfan Khan has received many treatments abroad as he was admitted abroad in 2019 during the shooting of his movie Angreji Medium.
