While the UK’s prime minister election is due, many contenders are coming forward, and the general public is open-heartedly showing its support. The former finance minister for the UK government, Rishi Sunak, is among one of the contenders leading the race for the PM’s post. In the meantime, Zerodha’s co-founder Nikhil Kamath also voiced his support for the could-be prime minister.
Kamath voiced his support through a recent tweet, he shared an adorable photo with Rishi Sunak (Former Finance Minister of UK/ Contador for UK’s PM). He tweeted, “Who would have thought 75 years ago on Aug 15 1947, an Indian origin man could be the Prime Minister of Britain one day (sic).” In support of the tweet, many netizens came forward and shared their thoughts about feeling proud as an Indian. Also, people thought this moment could result in better relationships within the countries.
Rishi Sunak had declared his interest in the UK’s prime minister election years prior. He is also said to be the first Hindu finance minister for Britain and the richest self-made MP in the country. Being the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy, he is well known among Indians and UK residents. However, last week hiked his popularity after the overwhelming tweet by Nikhil Kamath.
