A Delta Airplane DL4819 carrying 76 passengers and 4 crew members flipped on its back and crashed at the Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday afternoon. The airline shares that the flight took off from Minneapolis in the US and was trying to land.
The accident resulted in 17 passengers getting injured, with 2 individuals and a child being severely wounded. Miraculously, all 80 survived the accident. Among the 3, a man in his 60s, a woman in her 40s, and the child admitted to Toronto hospitals.
A survivor recorded footage of the accident, which is now going viral on social media. The footage shows a horrifying scene inside the cabin with a female passenger seen upside down in her seat.
Toronto Airport Authority Chief Executive Deborah Flint said no other jet was involved in the incident. Emergency crews reached the site within minutes and evacuated passengers. Fire crews appeared to douse the aircraft with water as smoke wafted and passengers were still exiting the plane.
It’s a good thing that everybody survived, as another deadly plane crash took place in South Korea in December 2024, costing many lives. Most of the passengers are reunited with their friends and family. After the incident, the airport suspended all flights and resumed around 2 hours later.
