May 6, 2020: Israel has successfully developed a key COVID-19 vaccine at one of it’s secret biological research laboratories, Israeli Defence Minister Naftali Bennett said on Monday during a video conference, calling it a significant breakthrough in developing an antibody to treat coronavirus. He calls “it’s the victory of the country’s scientists and an invaluable contribution to save mankind.”

“I am proud of the biological institute  staff and the team, who have isolated the coronavirus antibody as a notable breakthrough.” Naftali gave a statement to Israeli media. He confirmed that “COVID-19 vaccine or antibody targets the virus and neutralises in the body to curb the effect of coronavirus.”

Israel is one among the top countries to close its international borders and impose stringent guidelines to stop the spread of COVId-19 outbreak. Besides social distancing and other safety measurements, Israel became the first country to ban international travel and other domestic movements after the virus originated in Wuhan, China. However, Israel has managed to keep the tally as low as 16,290 confirmed cases and 253 deaths due to coronavirus outbreak.

Israeli Daily newspaper Ha’aretz, quoting biological sources, released a report on Thursday that the scientists at the IIBR (Israel’s Institute for Biological Research), that is supervised by Israel’s PMO, have recently made a significant breakthrough in developing a COVID-19 vaccine. Besides this the medical institute staff has developed an understanding of biological mechanisms and observing the qualities of viruses, including research on better diagnostic capacity, production of antibodies, better immune system for those who were COVID-19 positive.

The development process, however, requires a series of tests and experiments that may last many months before the vaccination is deemed effective or safe to use, the report said. The Defence Ministry, however, did not confirm the same in its response to the daily.

Although the vaccine needs to be tested and may undergo some similar or even stricter procedures before it will be allowed to treat coronavirus, Naftali Bennett said.
