There are different types of face masks that come in different fabrics with different features.

What Is The Use Of Face Mask?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), using a face mask is important:

  • if you have a fever, cold, and respiratory problem.
  • and, if you are well and care about your near and dear ones.
  • in case, when you are in contact within 6 feet or closer to the person who is ill.

Face masks help to limit the spread of germ. It is the primary and effective way to protect yourself from getting in contact with the tiny drops present in the air released by the person while talking, coughing, or sneezing.

In addition, some studies failed to show the effect of the face mask in preventing infectious diseases in the community and public settings.

Also, the CDC (Central of Disease Control and Prevention) suggested that the general public, apart from doctors and other paramedical staff, doesn’t need to wear surgical masks or N95 respirators to protect from a respiratory illness like COVID-19. Healthcare and other staff need this mask as there is currently a shortage of this. The general public, who are not in direct and continuous contact of COVID-19 patients, can wear simple masks made up of clean cloth or can use their hanky in order to prevent infection.
