What Makes SUVs the Top-Selling Cars In India For July?

SUV Dominated The Indian Car Market In July What's Driving This Surprising Surge?

Due to notable shifts in the Indian automotive landscape, SUVs have emerged as the top-selling vehicle in July 2024, surpassing traditional hatchbacks and sedans. According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), SUVs accounted for over 40% of total passenger vehicle sales in the previous month.

Hyundai Creta has emerged as the best-selling SUV car among others, surpassing Tata Punch, which had been leading for several months. The Creta sales boost reflects the growing demand for SUVs in India’s automobile market. In July, Hyundai sold 17,350 Creta units. On the other hand, Tata Punch sold 16,121 units and came in second place on the list of the best-selling SUVs in India. Talking about Maruti Suzuki, Brezza continues to hold a strong position in the market by selling 14,676 units. However, it is down from 16,543 units in the same month last year.

Tata Nexon, once a dominant player in the SUV segment, has seen a decline in sales. It sold 13,902 units. Meanwhile, the Mahindra Scorpio-N remains a popular choice among SUV buyers, as it sold 12,237 units, including both Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic models.

SUV cars are versatile and spacious, ideal for families and individuals who require additional cargo space. Moreover, they are appealing, and their improved features attract buyers from different demographics. Modern SUVs are equipped with advanced features and technologies, such as infotainment systems, ADAS, and other safety enhancements. Among all of them, the TATA Punch is considered the safest car in India. These are the important reasons why SUVs are buyers’ favourites nowadays.

Creta, Punch, and Brezza were the top-selling vehicles in July. These models have consistently performed well in the market thanks to their competitive pricing and feature-rich package.
