Exploring The New Tata Curvv EV: A Step Into The Future

Tata Curvv EV Review: A New Era In Electric Mobility

India is quickly moving towards electric vehicles. In the race for electric cars, one such company, Tata Motors, is very active with its new electric cars and wants to take the lead in this change. The Tata Curvv EV is the current addition to their list. This model has two versions with different battery sizes: 45kWh and 55kWh. These options meet various power needs while maintaining high efficiency and convenience. The Curvv EV showcases Tata’s dedication to sustainability, advanced technology, and modern design. The following section will explore the Tata Curvv car design, specifications, the Tata Curvv price, driving experience, and overall assessment.

The Performance

Tata Motors introduced the Curvv EV in the Indian market on August 7, 2024, to improve their vehicle lineup. They replaced the petrol engine with a new gasoline direct injection Turbo 1.2 Hyperion 3-cylinder, which produces 225 Nm of torque. This change meets customers’ needs when looking for a Tata vehicle with a GDi turbo. The new engine offers a great driving experience – quick, performs well at low speeds, and controls cabin noise at city speeds. It also delivers good fuel efficiency of approx 502 Km/Full Charge under specific driving conditions. The Curvv SUV competes well with similar engines in the market. The Tata Curvv engine also provides a temporary torque boost, making the vehicle responsive for overtaking or quick acceleration. However, the manual transmission affects its performance due to long throws, a vague gear shift sensation, and an excessively large and heavy gear stick.2.

Safety

The Curvv EV has a comprehensive safety suite, including six airbags, ABS and EBD, ESC, all four disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. The top variant boasts a Level ADAS suite with 20 functions, such as traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and blind spot detection, ensuring a safe and secure driving experience.

The Design And Features

The Tata Curvv EV’s interior design, reminiscent of the Nexon EV, exudes luxury with features like a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. The car also offers ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, LED front lights, an electric tailgate, a 360-degree camera, sequential LED DRLs, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android/Apple connectivity, and a high-quality JBL audio system. However, it falls short in some areas, lacking proper cupholders up front, a telescopic steering wheel, a headrest for the middle passenger, and a rear sunshade. Rear seat comfort for three passengers is also a concern, and the dashboard cladding isn’t padded.

Handling and Ride

The new Tata SUVs have electric power steering instead of heavy hydraulic steering. This makes the steering lighter and more responsive, making driving easier in the city. The Curvv SUV, built on the ATLAS platform, has great handling for its class, offering stability and confidence during sharp turns. Its 50:50 weight distribution minimises body roll. However, the ride quality with its 18-inch alloy wheels can be a mix. The firm suspension of Tata Curvv can make bumps more noticeable at lower speeds, but the ride is smoother at higher speeds, especially for passengers in the second row.

Price

The Tata Curvv price starts at ₹17.49 lakh for the Curvv EV 45, while ₹19.25 lakh for the Curvv EV55. The top-end 55 is priced at ₹22.9 lakh (ex-showroom). This means the Curvv SUV

competes directly with the higher end of the mid-SUV segment. The only electric alternative in this car category is the MG ZS EV, priced between ₹18.58 to ₹25.43 lakh. Electric cars are not yet very common, but Tata Motors aims to change that with the Tata Curvv car

by launching it in a very popular car segment and at a price that is not higher than traditional cars from other brands.

Bold And Electric: Tata Curvv EV In The Spotlight

The Tata Curvv EV is a compelling choice in the electric vehicle market, offering a perfect blend of style, performance, and advanced technology. Its modern design, comprehensive features, and impressive driving dynamics make it a desirable option for those transitioning to electric mobility. This Tata Curvv car variant’s efficient 45kWh provides ample power for everyday driving, while the more powerful 55kWh model caters to those seeking enhanced performance and quicker charging capabilities.
