India Records Over 90,000 COVID-19 Cases, The Health Infrastructure Will be on Toes till 2021

India Records Highest Cases in Single-day

September 7, 2020: COVID-19 situation in India continues to become worse. With the highest-ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases at 90,000, India has now become one of the worst-affected countries around the world. With a tally of 40,06,162 cases and 68,475 deaths, India has surpassed Brazil to become the second worst-affected country. Brazil has 4,137,606 COVID-19 cases, while the USA tops the list with over 6.460,250 coronavirus cases.

As tally crossed 4 million cases, All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said that the daily cases will continue to rise rapidly as the country is now witnessing the second phase of the pandemic. However, a few cities such as Mumbai and Delhi are under the second wave of Coronavirus.

Five out of 28 Indian states — Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh — hold nearly 63% of the all active cases in the country. Besides the highest single-day 90,000 cases, the health ministry says 69,564 COVID-19 patients have been recovered in one single day. However, the number of daily recoveries in India has reached 3,250,429 till now with the recovery rate of 77.30%. With the resumption of hotels and public transports and metro rail, the day is not so far when India will witness 1 Lakh cases daily.

Let’s gauge through the figures: India’s death toll due to coronavirus is 71,642 as 1,016 people upscaled to the viral disease, as per the recent report released by the health ministry on Monday. India recorded 90,632 Coronavirus cases and 70,627 deaths on Sunday.

India’s COVID-19 fatality rate, as the government claims is one of the lowest around the world, was upsurge to 1.72% on Sunday. “This has made sure that the active number of cases (8,62,320) stands for merely 20.96% of the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country,” confirmed by the health ministry in a statement.

However, the cumulative tests for COVID-19 detection surged to 4,55,09,380 in the country with 11,72,179 highest number of tests conducted in a single-day on Wednesday. “India’s daily testing numbers are one of the highest in the world,” said the union health ministry. So, it is obvious that the country may see more cases everyday as the range and capacity of testing has been extended.

From conducting merely 1 million tests per day in January, the daily average has now crossed 11 lakh, demonstrating an increase in the positive cases everyday.

The Global coronavirus tally has reached 27,290,137 and the death toll has climbed to 887,551 according to Worldometer.
